Searching "notary near me" usually turns up a bank branch with limited hours or a shipping store with a line out the door. Notary Java does it differently: we are a mobile notary public based in South Portland, and we bring the notary to you, whether that's your kitchen table, your conference room, or a quiet corner of your favorite coffee shop.
What a Mobile Notary Does
A notary public is an impartial witness appointed by the State of Maine. Our job is to confirm who is signing, make sure the signer is acting willingly and understands they are signing, and then complete the correct notarial certificate. As a traveling notary, we do all of that at a time and place that works for you.
Common appointments include:
- Acknowledgments for deeds, powers of attorney, and business documents
- Jurats (sworn statements) for affidavits and court-related forms
- Real estate buyer and seller packages, refinances, and HELOCs
- Child passport consent forms (DS-3053) and travel consent letters
- Apostille preparation and drop-off. See our apostille services
- Ink fingerprint cards. See our fingerprinting services

Why People Choose a Concierge Notary
Convenience
There's no waiting room and no rushing out on your lunch break. We schedule around you.
Privacy
Some documents are personal. Our confidential concierge mobile notary service keeps the appointment discreet, and we will sign an NDA when a client or business requires one.
Preparation
Not sure what to bring? We'll tell you before we arrive. The most important item is a current government-issued photo ID for every signer.
How to Get Ready
- Call or text to describe your document and how many people are signing.
- Send us the file if it needs printing. The Upload Document Now button on our site makes that easy.
- Don't sign ahead of time. Some documents must be signed in front of the notary.
- Have your ID ready and make sure every signer can be present.
That's it. Pour a cup of something good and we'll handle the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a mobile notary the same as a notary public?
Yes. A mobile notary is a commissioned notary public who travels to the signer instead of working from one fixed counter.
What ID do I need for a notarization in Maine?
Maine law lets a notary identify a signer with a current passport, driver's license, or government-issued nondriver ID, or through personal knowledge or a credible witness. Bring a current photo ID to be safe.
Can you meet me at a coffee shop?
Yes. Many clients like a café meetup in South Portland or Portland, as long as there's a table and enough quiet to review the document.
Do you give legal advice about my document?
No. A notary cannot explain the legal effect of a document or choose which form you need. For legal questions, talk with a Maine attorney.
